Which is better: stick or liquid concealer? Also, how do I stay matte throughout the day??

I just got this zit on my face yesterday morning, and I have a party to go to tomorrow night!!

It's really red and swollen, too.

This is a disaster!

I need a good concealer that will cover or mute the redness stat!

I heard that stick concealer can make your skin look cakey though...

Also, my skin is sensitive. It's acne prone and oily.

I have a little trouble staying matte through out the day.

I use Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation which is awesome, and then I dust powder on afterwards. It looks great, for about an hour.

How do I keep my skin shine-free all day long?

I don't want to re-apply powder because that ends up looking cakey.Which is better: stick or liquid concealer? Also, how do I stay matte throughout the day??
To diminish the redness of the blemish, you must use a green correction stick concealer. The green counteracts the red of the zit. Apply very sparingly! Then apply your regular foundation (specifically made for oily and acne-prone skin) all over. Dust with loose powder to set.

Sometimes, depending on the oily-ness of the skin, it's impossible to stay completely shine free all day without touchups. I would suggest a compact pressed powder for lightly touching up as needed (using as little product as possible will help control shine while diminishing the cakey look). Also, they have some oil-blotting tissues made for oily skin that's supposed to remove excess oil without removing makeup. Maybe you could give that a try.

If I were you, I would use a liquid. They blend better, and stick concealer tends to be greasy. If you have sensitive skin, use hypo-allergenic foundation by almay.
Put some toothpaste on your zit, that will start to dry it out, you can also use benzoyl peroxide, any strength will do. It delivers oxygen and starts to kill bacteria. As for your makeup and oily skin, I too suffer from this, I use bare minerals, powder form, you can get it on ebay. Works excellent and has natural zinc sunscreen and is antibacterial. It takes some getting used to, a little goes a long way, but it is AWESOME!!! You will look great all day!!! They also have a concealer, blush, eyeshadow, everything you need!! Unfortunately, that won't help you for the dance. Try using a blue concealer, to mute the red.
